I know we’ve still got 2 1/2 months until college basketball season starts, but it’s never too early to start thinking about how our favorite teams might do this season. CollegeSportsMadness.com is previewing the top 144 teams in the country. Sun Belt teams South Alabama and Texas State also made the list (the website has posted teams 74-144 right now).

So where does UT Arlington rank in their top 144? The Mavericks are ranked by CollegeSportsMadness.com at 119. Their preview has a ton of great information and is really spot-on I think, noting that Brian Warren is a big part of the offense and is a “dangerous scorer from anywhere on the floor”. It also talks about the valuable experience gained last year by the team that should really help the Mavericks win a lot of games this year and improve upon last year’s record.

Recall that after a tough 2018-2019 non-conference schedule that featured tough road games against several of college basketball’s elite-level programs, UTA finished conference play on a four-game win streak and an impressive 12-6 Sun Belt record. The Mavericks beat Georgia Southern in their first conference tournament game before losing to a very good Georgia State team in the Sun Belt Championship Game. With several new players coming in and competing for playing time this year, UTA will likely have one of the deepest benches in the conference. I agree with the article’s prediction that UTA should be able to make a push for the conference title. Sun Belt play is always fun, and it will be really interesting to see who’s in first place around early March.
