OK, maybe that was the worst puns/headlines I’ve written.

But anyway, we just got a puppy. His name is Maverick. Isn’t he cute?

My wife’s always had a tradition of naming dogs starting with the letter “M”, and the other day she mentioned we’d soon be the owners of a 10-week-old puppy (we’d been looking for a few weeks, and finally found the perfect one from a great rescue group in Fort Worth).

He was gonna be brought over to our house in a few days, and she was asking what to name it. I think I’d just come back from a recent basketball game actually and I didn’t have any idea what we were gonna call the dog, so I just said “I don’t know honey, what about Maverick?” My kid liked the idea A LOT so then I guess the name just kinda stuck.

He’s a chihuahua-dachsund mix, otherwise known a “chiweenie”. He’s 3 pounds now, will get to 8-15 pounds.

It has been awhile since I’ve had a puppy. He’s fun to play with adorable for sure, but oh the joys of puppy-training 🙂
