Mavs Make 13 Threes, Tied for 6th in Conference

UT Arlington (10-13, 6-6 Sun Belt) 68, Louisiana (6-15, 2-10 Sun Belt) 54

UTA played a very good game today after Thursday’s heartbreaking loss on a last-second shot against Louisiana. UT Arlington, who came into today’s  game ranked 11th of 12 teams in 3-point shooting in conference play, made 6 of 14 outside shots in the first half and 7 of 14 3s (13 of 28 overall, 46.4%) from beyond the arc. The Warhawks were without their second-leading scorer JD Williams, who suffered an ankle-ending injury against Louisiana last Saturday. UL-M now has only 2 conference wins, are winless on the road for the season (0-10) and have an 8-game losing streak in conference play. UTA moved the ball around well, finding open shooters and finished the game with 20 assists. It seemed like every shot was within the flow of the offense. Sam Griffin finished with 17 points on 6-9 shooting, 4-7 from outside. Radshad Davis scored 15 points on 5-7 shooting, 4-4 from outside. Jabari Narcis scored 13 points, on 5-8 shooting, including 3-6 from outside. He also had an impressive dunk early in the first half. Despite Thursday’s 1-point loss, the team has been playing very well over the last 2 or 3 weeks. A couple of wins next weekend could help UTA earn a better seed in the conference tournament.
