As we go into tomorrow’s big matchup against rival Texas State, it’s a great time to take a second and see where we’re at so far this season. 2016-2017 is looking to a be a pretty incredible. The big wins vs. Texas and St. Mary’s, an 11-game winning streak, 12 wins overall. Star forward Kevin Hervey is back to nearly 100% from his injury–scoring at will and absolutely dominating on the glass every game. Off to a good start so far in conference play, beginning with a game against a good Coastal Carolina team that played UTA to a tie at half (the first time UTA hasn’t lead going into halftime all season). Then UTA outscored them by 20+ in an incredible offensive outburst to win. Monday featured a nice win against a much improved Appalachian State team. Leading by 4 at the half, UTA really locked down defensively and won by 15. In the highlight video below, check out the last play–the Erick Neal-to-Pope dunk:

UTA’s current NCAA RPI is 35. Texas State is currently 8-6 with a 324 RPI ranking.
